Stehekin Views including Beets.

Got my beets from Karl the organic farmer in Stehekin.
Six super sized beets made lots of pickled beets. 13 jars.

Missing Stehekin and wondering how it would be staying the winter and making pots during my stay.
I'd need a ton of clay.

Home Again for new friends from The Pacific Crest Trail

I may never encounter you again, still, I treasure you three, and friendship and appreciation require no further ado.
Still, crossing paths again would be delightful.

I write these words to commemorate my gratitude for knowing you on our
Drive from Chelan's ferry terminal (via the boat trip from Stehekin) to Everett yesterday.

Being partners to your final journey ending your thousands of miles by foot, I'll fondly remember you and wish your lives well and full of adventures. And to Dan who arranged your transportation,
What an impression he made in his concern for others, myself included.

I'll remember always Vicki, to replace my shoes every 900 miles!

I hope one day I'll find one or all of you here on my blog or at Rialto Beach, or on a train from China to Finland. Or Stehekin one weekend soon.
Who knows where or why we may connect again?

Cheers

Beautiful Lake Chelan

Stehekin, North Cascades National Park

The Dehaviland Beaver bush or seaplane.

Stehekin can only be accessed by air or water, by foot or horseback.
Pictured high above the 3rd largest lake ( Chelan ) in America. 1500' is depth of lake, I believe, at deepest.
The canyon is the deepest in America.

Natives lived here until this area was discovered by white men. It was taken for agriculture and sent natives to Coleville Reservation. A desert.

A valley used for growing fruit until recently when wineries have been put in.

This area surrounding Lake Chelan was the recent location for many forest fires in Washington state.

A Western Washington Beach

We have had fires all over the state!
One of our rain forests burnt as a matter of fact.
This NW portion of the state hasn't had the fires. I am grateful for that even though we do have some smoke.

Farmers market Flowers

I love the farmers who grow these and the nice vegetables.

Note the glacial run off
From MT Baker

Not the usual clear running water. It was muggy on the fern filled trail if even barely away from the water.
