Kiku aka Mums for autumn plus central WA colors

All the same. A mum is a Kiku in Japanese. They’re ancient flowers, all stemming from a Beloved flower growing on the wayside in Japan long long ago. Beloved for its colorful yellow bloom in autumn Man has created every mum from this ordinary ragged wayside flower. My newest ones I’ll add more later.

Autumn

I would give one of my ceramic pieces to Michelle Obama. And feel like I’ve left it in a safe place. For posterity. Or a few pieces from my collections. I’m sure she has her own amazing treasures but I have to try. Maybe she would like my tiles entitled, burnt offerings terracotta. Another burnt Offerings are in a corporate collection of a tile company and was in The Monarch Tile Ceramic Competition. It was Monarch who bought it. The clay was stoneware. These are hand made tiles burnished and fired in a sawdust fire and assembled to show the smoke gray moving through the piece. This piece is worth 12,000.00.

Summer is dwindling away now. Soon mushrooms will be seen in cozy dark spaces in woods and under pines. Excitement for another season won’t disappoint.

I miss Summertime, but I'm falling into autumn...finally... so beautiful..corn lily is on the way out, but mushrooms are on the way in..

I love to find them pushing out of the ground, all dirty, and shrugging off their earthiness..such power and determination..

Below is the Chicken of the Woods, found at Rialto Beach one year. It had to be more than 50 lbs of mushroom, in perfect fresh condition. I didn't know then that it was edible. I may go looking for it again.
