Cape Disappointment @ the Mouth of The Columbia River in WA. Washington

Cape Disappointment is a large headland forming the northern portion of the mouth of the Columbia River, as it opens to the Pacific Ocean. Most members of the Corps of Discovery arrived in this area where they were first able to glimpse the ocean on November 15, 1805, and set up a base camp near Chinook Point. However, Lewis and a small party of men had set out ahead of the rest of the group the day before and began scouting for a favorable site for a winter encampment.

Shoto Clay, Lake River Ceramic Pieces

These photos are all copyrighted, so I can't post one, but you might like to take a look at these artifacts from The Portland Basin near Vancouver WA.
I find these extremely interesting, and mysterious.
THESE ARTIFACTS ARE SOME TIMES CALLED "SHOTO CLAY" OF THE PORTLAND BASIN, LAKE VANCOUVER, OR THE LOWER COLUMBIA RIVER.
ALL PART OF THE PRIVATE MUSEUM OF ANCIENT PEOPLES OF THE COLUMBIA RIVER AND GREAT BASIN.

A private collection I guess, but will open for public upon reasonable request.
I've written.. I have to see these, any body else want to go?

Longest Beach in US is in Washington State? News to me, but true

Long Beach is a peninsula, we have a few here, and this one is home to a 28 mile beach, longest in the US!

We hiked the refuge here last weekend, it was wonderful, (Take mosquito repellent).

A bay on one side, Pacific Ocean on other, This is THE Tsunami Zone.. of ALL Tsunami zones!

This is also home to an island ( little known) with old growth pockets of 1000 year old trees.
Access by boat only, and is completely primitive.. must filter your own water, and unless you can put your RV in a kayak, you won't be going here in an RV. lol

So I was scheduled to do this island this weekend, but guess what? No kayak rentals nearby, REI doesn't rent kayaks here in WA. so it's too late to order the kayak I would like to get, and my inflatable isn't good for this I think.
Anyway, there is a kayaking water trail 124 miles on the Columbia here too. Wow, what a place, next chapter of my life... begins here! Wanna tag along?

Many years ago now, my BF IIchiro, from Japan brought me this painting from Argentina. I finally framed it, I love the frame I chose, a double frame. And anyway, wanted to say thank you Iichiro. I've had a great life.. smiling...

Cherry Blossoms

Blue Poppy
Large poppy-like, vivid blue flowers with hairy textured leaves. One of the most beautiful blue perennials. Originally from the Himalayan mountains. Best in semi-shaded spots. Avoid sun during the warmest hours in the warmer zones. Prefers humusy, well-drained soil. Avoid winter wetness and mulch in the summer to keep the base cooler. Good for naturalizing or wildflower gardens. We offer well-rooted plants in 2 1/2" pots. Zones 6-8.
