Movie Posters...!!!! What fun!!

I went to a sale in Seattle a few weeks back,  ( gosh was it before Christmas, yes!)
The 7 Gables Theatre had this poster sale.

Don't ask how much I spent on posters!

So, there is this large hallway here, of more or less wasted space, as far as practical usefulness goes, but it's purrfect for a different kind of art!

I've been wanting to do something smashing with it for awhile, and  I have known a few things I wanted to do.

You enter this 'room' through an archway, and I have a red curtain there, but I want two heavy thick red velvet drapes, that you have to push your way through, and the walls and ceiling ( which is vaulted) will be painted extraordinary colors, soon..

...Meanwhile I have hung three movie posters in this room; Memoirs of  A Geisha, which is a very striking poster, Girl with the Pearl Earring, also stunning, and a sweet meaningful movie, Pieces of April. Katie Holmes in this movie reminds me of Daisy, they are definitely look a-likes, and have the same sweet hearts....I was going to use The Phantom Of The Opera, which I love, I'm just not crazy about the movie, but I think it might be more fitting in this space.

Here are the posters.. coming attractions will be paint, and theatre curtains.. at least!
You really should consider clicking on these! You'll wannna know where the popcorn is..and you'll be busy online looking up the latest  great films.

These are not necessarily my favorite movies, but they didn't have every poster available, so.. I chose some nice ones, and have some more, maybe for gifts or maybe Ken Mac , Greenwich Village Daily Photo ( A  cool..NY blogger, in my blog list, and he posts messages here as well ) will want one?

Linda, said I sounded breathless, I have a secret, I am a horrible typist, so I try to be as minimal as possible when posting..however, when it came to Dorothy's birthday dinner/party, I only had 2 days notice to have it here, so I was pretty busy.

We had a white Christmas

Here is The Puddha looking at the snow with consternation, he's antsy to go outside and play..

Seattle isn't prepared for this kind of weather. It has been cold with lots of snow.
Last we had this kind of weather, I wasn't around, it was in 1861.

My daughter and her cello, Merry Christmas Everyone!

Snow Goddess or as one friend said, Snow Geisha..

Daphne and her cello

Her first instrument is piano, her husband plays keyboard, guitar,
drums, violin, etc. and lately he has been seeing her cello on the side!
This was her Christmas present from her husband, John Nallie and it was his fathers  cello. Luther Nallie
Sweet huh?

Over the years, I've tucked away many nice treasures, gifts from friends, art works, and some things I collect or make..

This is the silver coffee set my Mother gave me for Christmas one year..
also Iittala glasses with holders, and Lomonosov (china from Russia) Samovar with rooster pattern.
The samovar holds tea that is strong in the top teapot. The bottom has hot water. You mix it appropriately for your likeness.
These originate from the Monguls, to Russians, then were adopted by the Persians.
Tea is very important in business, and customs in many parts of the world.
I am looking for an electric samovar.
This is a snow globe, one of my favorite things in the world. This one  is Austrian.
Sweet huh?
These baskets are from China, they are carried over the shoulder with a stick
 (you've probably seen in movies).

Modern Chinese box.
Oil lamp is from a potter in Winthrop WA.
another oil lamp, and book behind it is a very special book.
(called Natural Fashions)
Gourds  are gifts from my friends the Wittstrucks, from long ago. Jim grew them, (was a member of the North American Gourd society), and is an artist. So is Martha, my ceramics instructor from college, and good friend.
Kim Carney made this small box for me many years ago.
She and I went to college together. She is a graphic artist, and more..
This bunny is made from an old kimono. I bought it recently in Seattle.

My teapot on left, a mexican folkart plate, and two goblets I've picked up here and there.
One is scandinavian design.

Lamp is antique Danish, cups Wiinblad, plates are as well.
Scarf is Swedish, Swedish candlestick in wood.

Daphne, my daughter, got me these Nutcracker Wiinblad toast plates as a gift years ago..

Three pieces of my porcelain work, and  art by a Seattle artist in back.
Zebras are Arabia (Finland), designed for World Wide Life Fund.
Behind in yellow is some of my work using Japanese cards.

The snow is going to freeze tonight. Seattle will have some traffic problems.
I'm wondering if we'll get a white Christmas?
I guess record snow like this was last seen in c 1861 or there bouts.
Hope you enjoy the local art collection...
